Sailing is the art of controlling a sailing vessel. By changing the rigging, rudder and dagger or centre board, a sailor manages the force of the wind on the sails in order to change the direction and speed of a boat.

The Sea Cadets is a maritime youth charity with 400 units based throughout the UK. The cadet corps is open to young people aged 12 to 18 and provides many opportunities to get involved in a wide-range of land and water based activities – including sailing!
